UN 1203 is gasoline. The hazard class is 3, a flammable liquid. When a tank car's placard reads 1203, that is the commodity identification. You don't need a brand name.
Gasoline cars are general-service tank cars in flammable-liquid service, not the pressure tanks used for LPG. If you see 1203 on a pressure car, look again. You may be reading a different number, or looking at a different car in the cut.
1203 is not crude oil and it is not diesel. Crude is 1267. Diesel and heating oil are 1202. The placard system exists so those don't get lumped together.
