What changed from the Wikipedia pages
Fetched wikitext for List of reporting marks: A through Z from the English Wikipedia MediaWiki API. Read only the reporting-mark tables on those pages. Removed wiki markup, reference tags, and editor comments. Kept the displayed mark, including ampersands such as A&GW, rather than the hidden sort key. Normalized marks to uppercase and dropped rows that are not 1–4 letter reporting marks. Split each company cell into an owner string and a notes string. Year ranges in parentheses stay with the owner. Other parenthetical clarifications move to notes. Preserved Wikipedia's arrow (→) as a name succession and semicolon as more than one listed company. Classified each row from its section heading: operating railroad or private owner. Assigned a suffix class from the final letter: X private equipment, U container, Z trailer, otherwise railroad. Merged duplicate marks into one record. Did not add equipment-register fields, build dates, dimensions, capacities, or pool assignments.
The rest of the site
The stencil guide and the hazmat-placard notes are original writing for RailcarID. They are not copied from the mark dataset and they are not under the dataset’s ShareAlike license. Railroad names appear as text because they are the names on the cars and in the Wikipedia list. Their logos do not. RailcarID is not affiliated with any railroad.
This version does not rehost photographs. When a car page links to a photo on another site, the page will name the photographer, the source, and the license, and the link will go to the original. A thumbnail will be kept only when that license allows it. Those credits will be added on the car page and summarized here.
Sources that are not used yet are not credited here. Federal rail-network data, photo-host APIs, and any later mark list will be named on this page, with the license each one actually carries, before they are published.
