Class 7

Class 7 — radioactive

Class 7 marks radioactive material. The placard is uncommon and unmistakable when you can read it.

Class 7 is radioactive material. The diamond uses the trefoil and the number 7. It is not a common freight-car placard, and it is not something to treat as a curiosity you walk up to.

There are different package and exclusive-use labels in this class. The details beyond the class number live in smaller text and in the shipping papers. A photo that only shows the trefoil is enough to know you are looking at class 7, and not enough to know the shipment.

The same rule as the rest of this guide: identify it, don't approach it, and don't publish a precise location of a hazardous shipment.

Identification only. If a car is leaking or in a wreck, move away and call your local emergency number. Responders use the Emergency Response Guidebook. This page is not that book.
